Richard Barkus recalls Roger Ingram who attended the same class at Delamere Boys School 1963, riding with friends on their pushies out to Embakasi Airport to see him off to South Africa.

His father was known as Bunny his real name Albert worked for East African Post & Telegraph as a telecom engineer in the construction of the underground telephone system.
His father was a keen golfer beeing a member of Royal Nairobi and Karen golf clubs, his mother Grace worked as a clerk in the Lands Department she was also a keen Lawn Bowler and Member of City Park Bowling Club.
Richard spent 3 years in Mombasa and attended the local Primary School until about aged 9, then moved to Nairobi
Richard has a brother John who spent a term at Delamere then went to a school in Sandwich Kent -Roger Manwood School.
Richard attended Delamer Boys now named Upper Hill School.
He was Kenya National swimming Champion for 3 years Breatstroke and Butterfly.
After leaving Kenya he joined the Royal Air Force in Air Traffic Control stationed in Mildenhall Suffolk, Bawtry Yorkshire and Finally RAF Valley North Wales. After leaving the RAF joined the Civil Aviation Authority at West Drayton Middlesex (Nr Heathrow) at the ATC Centre.
3 years later migrated to Australia Sydney with his wife Kathy and son Adrian aged 2.
He has remained ever since Owning and running a number of Food business’s
